Porsche servicing: paper booklet or digital?
Discussion
I am looking at a second hand Porsche (Panamera, 2014) being offered by a non-Porsche dealer.
I am told by the selling dealer that there is no paper service booklet and that the service records are all held electronically by Porsche now. He's sent me a screen dump from the supplying OPC, detailing the services that the car has had (not all at the supplying OPC).
However, two independents have come back to me this evening about this. One says that Porsche do not have a central database of vehicle services, and that services are registered in a conventional paper service book with a stamp. The other implies that a paper service book is the norm, but also says that there is a Porsche electronic database, though not all Porsche OPCs can see every other Porsche OPC.
So, can anyone with a 2014 or later Panamera tell me whether they have a paper service book?
I don't mind going to the effort of getting a duplicate service book made up, assuming the OPCs who have serviced it are will to co-operate, but I would like to know what I'm getting into before I am actually in it.
TIA

There should be a service book with the car,
however the dealer is correct in stating that services are held in a central data base that can be accessed by the Porsche network, (this is as long as the servicing dealer remembered to update it at the time of the service),
The service book for my car was missing, and when my local OPC checked the history they found the 1st service wasn't showing, so I had to get a letter of confirmation from the servicing dealer (Silverstone) to show it had been carried out,
(apparently the system cannot be updated at a later date).
You could get a new book printed which will give you an up to date history, but it can be quite costly so perhaps worth negotiating as part of the sale

Thank you - that's incredibly detailed and useful
I know who the supplying dealer was, and which OPCs have serviced it, so I will do some ringing around tomorrow to see whether they will play ball.
As a matter of interest, and to help manage my expectations, any idea how much I am going to be invited to stump up for a stamped book? £100/£500/£1000? I know from previous experience that Porsche pricing can often defy one's most pessimistic predictions.

Shouldn't need to ring around,
Just contact your nearest OPC parts /service dept and give them the VIN /Registration number and they should be able to sort you out
Can't remember what price I was quoted for mine,
I spoke to one of the service team when my car was in who just gave me a rough quote at the time which I seem to remember being a few hundred, but I could be mistaken,
sorry I can't be of more help.
