Hello,
It seems Im a little lost regarding these items and wondering if I can get a little help on deciding what I should go for.
I need to replace my current front brake discs & Pads (factory) after 40k miles.
I was hoping to get a more visually appealing set (slotted and dimpled perhaps) but I cant quite work out what ones are a solid recommendation and my searches havent helped nail this down.
Mtec vs EBC vs Brembo and not to mention the colour coded pads from EBC have me going round in circles.

Setup is as follows:

Daily driver

No track days, but drive/brake a little bit agressive on the big empty roads.

Ideally would like to not have the unsightly rust on the discs after 1 rainy day, but I gather thats a lot to do with break dust and wear, so with that, Im assuming I'd want the redstuff EBC pads but again, not sure about the details here.

Lastly, as mentioned, I want something nonstock and have a bit of a sporty look so, slotted and dimpled was my thinking (as I personally like how they look) but, Ive read that the drilled/dimpled can warp due to the structural "looseness" of them.

Basically Im not sure what company I should be looking at or how much I should be spending, or what to get!

(budget can stretch to 400 or so if its the right choice)

Appreciate any guidance or recommendations here!

[edited for a bit more clarity as I wrote this at 1am so wasnt that coherent!]

You can fit the Clubsport S discs if you want something nicer looking...

I see - those look good. What pads would we want to pair these with?

[Also edited the original post for a bit more clarity - I wrote it at 1am so it wasnt great in terms of detail]

I've been fine with completely standard Pagid pads but if you want something to take a bit more temperature EBC Yellow Stuff and Ferodo DS2500 both work well from cold but go up to higher temperatures than an OE style pad.

Mtech do the black coloured discs which look a bit different, obviously it won't stop the disc face rusting though.
I'd just go for something from one of the big players such as the above or brembo and stick to normal road pads, they will easily cope with your usage and be effective straight from cold.

Yep they sell good stuff. They made the kit that’s on my car. (See profile)

OP. To be honest I would shelve the looks and just get some better pads. Mintex M1144 are decent.

The suggestion of the club sport discs is good, but they are expensive and the return you’ll seen on road is small. 1kg lighter per side might give you slightly better/lighter steering... you might not feel it at all.

I have had everything from 312mm discs - R32 setup - 362mm floating AP racing on my car, and by far the best cost/performance option for road use is OEM discs (or better still brembo HC ones) and really good brake pads.

Brembo greentive won't show rust.
Not sure when they're available though.

What are they like in terms of cold feel/squeak? Dusty?

I need new fronts soon myself; I can buy the S discs at trade so will probably be a tart and throw them on because they look nice.

From memory they were good from cold. Just like OEM. Probably a little noisier than OEM pads but perfectly acceptable for road. Dust was fine for me but on plain discs, drilled might be a bit more messy
