I've had my driver cards come through today which actually cane much quicker than I expected. I'm sure I did request for the Daniel Ricciardo one to be signed and wasn't bothered if I recieved Ocons one or not but they have both arrived unsigned.
This is my first experience requesting driver cards and from what I've been reading from other people online, I assumed they would arrive signed.
Could someone confirm if they genuinely arnt meant to arrive signed or if there has maybe been a mistake?

Thanks

Do you have a link to these? I have never heard of such a thing but may be interested in a couple of signed cards for Xmas presents.

Hi mate. If you got to the team website and look for their email. You can request it though email. Renault f1 however ask you to send an envelope to them with a post stamp on and they can post it back. Id be interested in hearing from you as to if they give you a signed one or not. I requested mine a week ago and paid first class for both stamps and recieved today.

This is what they told me to get mine.

To obtain Drivers Cards for the 2020 Season please send a stamped self-addressed envelope no smaller than 22cm x 11cm including a note stating which Driver’s Autograph you require to the following address:

Renault Sport Racing Ltd
Whiteways Technical Centre
Enstone
Chipping Norton
Oxfordshire
OX7 4EE

Seems fairly unequivocal. Either you forgot to put the note in or they owe you another card - with an autograph!

Unless you saw it signed by the driver in front of you I wouldn't put much faith in any signed F1 item. You wouldn't believe how many visor strips Senna signed after he died.

Thats a pretty negative way to see it. I do know for a fact that drivers as part of their contracts are to put aside a decent amount of time for signing stuff like this for the teams as you may have seen.

Could just be my mistake not including a not you are right. I will try again as the lady on the phone from renault sport advised me. Hopefully won't take too long as the last one took less than a week to arrive.

One of the drivers (can't remember who now) posted a picture a while back with a pile of stuff to sign.

I wouldn't worry. Certainly on the second hand market things get signed illegitimately... But you ordered direct from the team. They're hardly likely to commit an easily detectable fraud for the sake of rinsing you of a few quid! Not just the team either, as it's a signature the person signing would themselves breaking the law too, and face seperate charges if found out.

And as above, the drivers might get suspicious as they expect full well to spend a certain amount of time signing stuff. If DR suddenly found he was only signing half as much I'm sure he'd want to know why as the obvious conclusion would be "where the fk have half my fans gone!?" biggrin

Saw this, emailed Mclaren and got a "we're very busy sorry" automated response, only media and urgent emails are being actioned.

Nothing from Williams yet.

Didn't know this was a thing, my kids would be thrilled to get a signed drivers card from Lando or George.

One of the many Mercedes videos a year or two back was "A Day In The Life Of Lewis", when he spent the day in the factory. He had an hour in his schedule for sitting down signing stuff (a lot of which was postcards and hats, hundreds of them), and some more time for a meet and greet with factory personnel, which also involved a fair bit of getting his marker pen out.

As remarked in another thread, anything not involved in making the car go faster is what the drivers think of as "work".

With covid19 I doubt anyone wants to sit there signing 1000s of items and dispatching them everywhere as they may be worried of being accused of spreading the virus.

Nothing stopping the person wearing gloves and ppe whist signing.

Very easy to sort that particular issue tbh.

Anyway, if they don't want to do it they kinda need to stop selling autographed items wink

Some are better than others, buy a 1:2 scale helmet from Gasly's store and he signs them (along with a driver card), Max usually signs the first 100. All at no extra cost.

I have previously been involved in a business that sold signed motorsports memorabilia.

I'm not saying that some PAs for some teams and drivers sign things on their behalf. But I'm not saying some don't either. ;-)
