I've just had an email...Was hoping they'd base the new TS on the upcoming 1160 Speed Triple (and I guess they still might) but the email teases an 850cc version being unveiled on the 17th

I think it's more likely to be a triple, but no further info yet.

This is all over a couple of Triumph FB groups I follow.
It’s hilarious. Fewer than 1000cc?
Oh the shame!!!

Probably all eagerly waiting an announcement that they're going to make a new TS from the new 1160 Speed Triple. so 850 is a little disappointing. The 1160 may still come of course.

I'm not sure I understand how this bike fits in with the 900? Are they getting rid of the 900?

Same cc, bore and stroke.

It’s the equivalent of the F750GS. Has 10HP less than the 900.

Bit of a shame really, was hoping for a new model of the Tiger 1050/ Tiger Sport.

Seems completely pointless. Why would any buyer choose this over a 900 GT?

Price. It's around 3.5k cheaper than the 900. And its ability to be made A2 compliant

I don't understand this bike, as its still £9300, why wouldn't you just buy the base model tiger 900 for £9500 and get the extra power & torque. There isn't anything obviously different to a base tiger 900 - If there is something different, Triumph have done a terrible job of highlighting it.

I was hoping a tiger sport would be getting a closer derivative of the street triple engine and 110 - 120bhp

The base model of the 900 is being discontinued so the entry point for the 900 will be the GT.

So it's just a rebrand exercise, with the customer getting a detuned motor out of the deal. Sounds great banghead

The marketing blurb talks about A2 compliance, but the tiger 900 can already be made a2 compliant. Seems to me to be an excuse to put up the price for the 900 GT and 900 Rally.

Not seen any price increases touted for the 900’s. I guess you can sum it up as a bit less power, some better colours, led lighting all round, better tyres and 300 quid off.

The 900 base model wasn’t offered in all markets from launch, the product manager likened this change to the 750 & 850 GS situation with BMW.
