Interesting email from AM Cambridge today. They are still struggling to sell new Vantages by the looks of things.

EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT

Vantage is raw, instinctive and makes a statement of class whether you’re heading for a day on the track, cruising down country lanes or making the everyday commute. Vantage delivers an exciting and fresh experience with every rev of the engine.

At Aston Martin Cambridge we are excited to have a fresh fleet of Vantage models available to end 2020 in style.

We know that not everyone is the same and therefore we want you to send us what your ideal offer needs to be to order an Aston Martin Vantage for 2020 delivery. This could include ideal monthly payments, maximum deposit, vehicle list price, luggage sets, accessories or servicing.*

Submit the form below and a member of the team will be in touch to discuss your needs further.

"New Vantage has the most powerful and provocative design language ever seen in a Vantage. A hunter, light in weight and is therefore light in its visual language."

Marek Reichman
EVP and Chief Creative Officer

I’m really beginning to think that Marek Reichman is a bit of a liability. The new Vantage certainly is provocative but not particularly light.

Wow. Looks like they are clearing stock, facelift incoming?

Two friends of mine are keen on the new vantage. One is put off by the price, the other made an offer £6k lower than the asking at our local dealer and they wouldn’t do the deal so he walked.

I’m really beginning to think that Marek Reichman is a bit of a liability. The new Vantage certainly is provocative, but not particularly light.

I don't think the Vantage has been changed at all (except for the introduction of the manual) since launch, so for that reason, if the car struggled to sell before, it logically will continue to struggle. The only time that sales boomed, was the £25,000 for 2 years offer, with free initial road tax and free 2 year servicing. Think AML wrote off £35 million for that sales promotion.

Such a shame, because the whole thing has been a most unfortunate disaster. The Vantage is supposed to be the main core model big seller.

I purposely have not commented, but I can remember when those lime essence launch photos were first published. PHers certainly did not hold back with their criticism. When the (new) Top Gear programme reviewed the car, one of the presenters held up a big mouthed fish. I don't think even J. Clarkson would have been that unkind.

It should have been immediately clear to AML that something was amiss, but it sounds as though Marek Reichmann is still, 3 years later, continuing to promote the car as if (in his imagination) it is a hunting shark.

A mid-life design revision, to address the various external and internal appearance aspects criticised, must be the best way to increase sales. Give the customer what they want usually works. Would it really harm DBX sales, if the Vantage had the same dashboard, as the well received DBX dashboard?

(EVP ? Now that the President has gone, maybe Marek could upgrade himself from EVP to P.
President might be OK for a country, but seems ridiculous at a British car manufacturer. ) _ wink

By "clearing out stock" the particular product is damaged goods. Stroll's idea works only if the Vantage gets a pretty significant mid life refresh (and fast). New dash/ interior with world class tech (no excuses) and a complete redesign of the front end of the car. There is no way anyone is going to pay to dollar for an ordered car when there are thousands of "marked down" copies floating around. Ain't gonna happen. Better to lance the boil. While they are at it do the interior refresh across the board.

100% agree, RichB.

The readers of auto motor und sport on the other hand seem to have taken a different view - but perhaps this should not be taken so seriously as there is always the question which choice you have in such a magazine contest wink.

Not a mixed message, the heart has barely been functioning and the rest of the body (company) is on life support

I still think the Vantage is one of the nicest looking vehicles in the flesh. I've been in the market for one for a while, but the deals aren't forthcoming.
AM Cambridge have a PCP offer on their website, when you compare it to the £999 deposit / £999 a month deal of last year it's quite poor.

https://www.jardinemotors.co.uk/aston-martin/new-c...

I may email them asking if they'll do that deal again - unlikely I know, but worth a try.
