I'm not a serious gamer but I do like the odd dabble.
As a married man / parent etc the opportunity to fire up the PC or PlayStation for a few hours of escape is pretty minimal.
I play the odd casual game on my phone, but is there a middle ground, something more immersive, (paid for) that I can play with a controller. Phone is a new, decent spec Sony on android.
Any suggestions?

On Android you've got 2 choices,
1. Google Stadia
2. Xbox Game Pass
You can play both on your phone with a controller, I've gone the Xbox route as I already have a Xbox console.

Another option that I used when we had a new born baby was remote play of a PS4 using my Sony PS Vita.
You turn on the Ps4, turn on the vita and you can play the Ps4 on your vita screen with the built in controls/controller. Worked great for not having to dominate the TV, or in my case, disappear upstairs to the Ps4 room.
