Hey guys

Im just in the process of finishing my Man cave, and want to intergrate a decent sound system in it o listen to some tunes.

The room itself is 20M2, I have an macbook, ipad etc etc.

Is their anything I should be routing behind the plasterboard ?

Any ideas really appreciated.

We probably need a bit more info, what will it be for?

Music, Films?

Are you talking about speaker wires, or ethernet, power etc?

Yeah sorry Justin

Its going to be listening to music whilst playing pool.

I will be having a 22 inch TV in the corner so I was thinking of running spotify off that and have a decent sound system from that ( unless its a crap idea)

Cheers

Whats the budget? And whats the goal? Convenience, sounds, looks, hidden away?

In my garage I have an old (second hand) AV amp - Kenwood I think, and some second hand Mission speakers - total cost less than £60. For a garage, it's perfectly fine, plays the radio and I can hook up any RCA device (ipod mainly). Lots of owners want the latest and greatest AV amp so sell their old ones for a pittance as no one generally want them. Check eBay or Facebook Marketplace / Gumtree etc for second hand kit.

Yeah we need some info here, otherwise it's a bit like asking "I want a car. I need to be able to drive it, and also park it. Any suggestions?" hehe

How about some Bluetooth ceiling speakers?

https://www.kitchenbathroomradio.co.uk/collections...

Quite popular in garden buildings, home offices and man caves!

Lots of options from MrSparks Bluetooth In-Ceiling Speakers

Active monitor type speakers with USB, Bluetooth and even WiFi connections.

Through to traditional amplifier and bookshelf speakers.

All different budgets too.

20SqM man cave and your getting yourself a screen the size of some tablets? Really?

Hopefully that's a typo or you have misunderstood what man caves are for. Anything less 42" isnt really trying.

Come on, 65 inch or go home. This is pistonheads.

Joking aside, depends what you want from the room as said. You could get a cheap bose multi channel system with some small speakers and put them around the room. Will go plenty loud enough and allow you to play CD/DVD. That's what I have in my office. Bonus being it will also do surround sound from your computer if you want at a later date. Or as said, an amp and speakers from FBMarketplace or ebay can be had for cheap. I've got a Cyrus amp and some Tannoy speakers tucked away that will go in the garage when I build it. Guessing something discrete is going to be the order of the day so some sort of ceiling speakers would be a nice touch, possibly run from an amp in the corner of the room.

If it is a 22" tv its way too small. Ive just got a 75" tv for my two car garage. Whats the worst that will happen? Your wife will be angry? I got a great deal from richer sounds with a 6 year warranty and free delivery. As the other poster said go big or go home!

Listen lads

Ive managed to convince her of a pool table......a 199 inch telly aint gonna happen.

22 inch smart tv hung up high should do it.

Could I connect the TV up to a Bluetooth speaker???

You could connect to a BT speaker. Maybe pick one that you make a pair out of to expand at a later date.

Have you considered some cheap second hand separates at all? You'd be amazed what you can get for 100 to 150 quid!

This has airplay (I think), would that allow you to use Spotify from iPhone etc?

In terms of speakers I'd get some JBL control 1s for £69 and a cheap sub. I bought a Wharfedale sub from AV FORUMS for 40 quid a couple of years ago. They'd make a great combo.
