2021 - When Covid-19 and Brexit finally meet..
Discussion
Sorry in advance for yet another Covid thread..
The fact is on January 1st we are out of E.U either with, or without a deal. With that will come all the logistical issues of borders in Ireland, Dover and Channel Tunnel etc. Lories likely to be cueing on both sides of the Channel and Possibly in The Irish Sea, and what effect will this have on transporting the vaccines as they become available? I believe the Pfizer vaccine is being manufactured in Belgium - How will this be dealt with at the border? Seems there will be so much red-tape as the reality of a Brexit-Britain takes shape and there really couldn't have been a worse time with the pandemic ongoing.
I voted to leave the E.U back in 2016 - Not sure I would have knowing what I know now...

Covid-19 and Brexit in one thread..! Any thoughts on their combined effect...?
Hopefully the mods will delete. Border management has been discussed many times on the Negotiation thread. Covid doesn't change much, apart from how much debt the various nations on both sides of the channel have run up. In terms of rapid recovery, small and agile probably beats large, partial fiscal and political union.

If there were really a problem, which their won't be, I would think the army could pop over in a Chinook and back in time for tea and crumpets. Vaccine isn't bulky or heavy. The fact is on January 1st we are out of E.U either with, or without a deal. There you have it - Business Secretary Alok Sharma couldn't confirm the procurement of the vaccine post-brexit!
He said "There is a deal to be done" with the E.U, but no clear details on how/if we can procure the needed vaccine(s)
Nothing much inspires me with confidence here....!
We have already ordered the vaccines. The EU are not going to prevent them coming to the U.K...it would be diplomatic suicide. He said "There is a deal to be done" with the E.U, but no clear details on how/if we can procure the needed vaccine(s)

Hancock said weeks ago that should Calais Port present an obstacle the Govt would use the military to pick it up by air.The Govt did the same for PPE.
