Can anyone help with a possible fraud?

I've spotted a suspiciously attractive looking van on eBay, with a decent price attached to it.

I have spoken to the 'seller', very well spoken, plausible chap. I have his address, taken a look at it on Google Earth, even gone to the trouble of checking the title for it on the Land Registry. Property not in his name....

Is there anyone who could take a look at the V5 and see whose name is on it????...

Why has it made you suspicious? Just because you're listed at an address doesn't mean you own it.

If he's given you his address already (true/correct or not) then he shouldn't have a problem sending you a pic of the V5, so you can "run a vehicle check"?

He's working away until Saturday.... I know that he could be renting the place but something doesn't add up. It's suspiciously good value, looks great, MOT history is pretty good.....

Why not just take someone who knows what they’re doing?

If the van and it’s paperwork stack up, buy it and drive off. No need to private investigate the seller.

I have bought and sold many vehicle, thanks. He wants to take it off ebay with full payment before I have seen it, thats the issue

I just did a search for same year Transporters on ebay and it does seem very cheap.

I thought the same, but looked further and it does seem cheaper than most others.
There’s a 53 plate with ripped seats up for £5k

Why are they so expensive? They’re old vans, each to their own of course but I can’t see the appeal.

If your spidey senses are telling you something doesn't add up, you're probably right. Firstly that's way too cheap and working in refurbs I'd be very suspicious of any carpet fitter driving a transporter. Carpets come in rolls of 4 or 5m, neither of which would fit in that.

I can see why you'd be suspicious, its not slightly cheap, its VERY cheap given the current market for these.

V5 last issued in 2012 so unless the seller has had it for 8 years, or its cloned/knackered the seller may just want a quick sale with no haggle.

Last V5 change matches when he says he took ownership.
Of course, if it's just a mis-pricing he'll know that by now because the phone will have been ringing off the hook.
