Failure to respond to NIP ... time limit for action?

Advice sought please. I confess to not being very organised about my mail. I am careful not to be caught speeding and have to date no points on my licence.

However my ex husband did speed in my car and I have just opened mail from February that got hidden in a pile and discovered an NIP final reminder from an offence in January this year. Of course I did not reply being unaware. I have checked DVLA and there are no points in my licence. Has the MET run out of time to prosecute? I haven’t heard further... not really sure what I should do now - should I reply with his details this late?

November is too late to commence proceedings for failing to give information and or speeding in January / February.

There’s a risk that proceedings were commenced in time and are still outstanding.

Contact the police by email or letter. Ask for the outcome.

They normally summon you to court if NIP isn't replied to. It could be in the Covid Court backlog?

Contact the police and find out more.

It's now 2020 and the Single Justice Procedure is used by the Metropolitan Police.
