I saw an advert on Facebook (always the best place to get your investment advice) saying rare whiskies have risen in value by 582% in the last decade. This to me doesn't make me want to invest, it makes me thing I've missed the boat.

With house prices at an all time high and stock markets at record levels, what's going to be the next big thing?

Drone-delivered takeaway food.
Greggs are looking into it apparently - but it could just be pie in the sky...

Don't want a greggs pasty dropped onto your head, good chance it'll kill you.

As I'm sure you're aware, anything that has started to be advertised on Facebook or social media in general will have been long wrung out and drained of any value, and you'll be at the level of scammers trying it on.

Probably the thing you won't read about on PistonHeads.

That probably sounds snarky but it isn't meant to.

I'm not looking to get in on the ground floor, but everything seems overvalued to me at the moment.

Time in the market not timing the market.

Agreed but it helps if you start off at a historic crash,

An Amazon advert popped up on mine to run your won distribution centre.
Must say it was tempting...

I'm no investor, but my job involves working on patents and I've observed a few things:
- Tons of money will be spent on 5G infrastructure over a long time. This is the beginning.
- Tons of money will be spent on energy density and efficient semiconductors. There is much excitement over Gallium Nitride at the moment.
- Tons of money is being spent (and will be spent) on renewable energy. Perhaps also electric vehicle infrastructure.

There is a company I've invested in that is patenting a secret formula for 20/20 hindsight.
It made a killing.

Where is nanotechnology at the moment? I don't recall seeing a 'nanotech fund' but I expect someone's done well out of it.

The problem is that it's all very well to predict the next big thing - not least A Vaccine Which Will Save the World And Make A Fortune - but exactly where to invest to take any advantage of it is another matter.

With Covid, long covid, aging population and the inevitability of another pandemic on the horizon I'm thinking of putting a chunk in a health care fund for at least 5 years.
