HPI Check including VIN Number?
Discussion
Hi folks,
Going to view a car tomorrow that, if all checks out, we will be buying.
It's a private sale and I've always bought from dealers so never done a HPI check before, dealer always has them there printed already.
Do they all include the VIN number on the check as want to try and find out what options the car was fitted with as ad is alittle vague and guy selling takes about 8 hours to reply to messages!
Car was on a private plate until very recently, some free car checks won't find the original plate but will find the private and visa versa. Does this matter to the HPI or will it all be linked whichever plate the check finds?
Sorry if these seem very dumb, simple questions! New ground to me after 18 years of driving.
If anyone can recommend a good site to run the check, just shout up.

You get the opportunity to input the chassis number, V5 number and the date of issue.
When you do, they will verify the numbers you input are correct.
HPI should have the plate change recorded, they did on the one I did recently. Look at my V5 thread from Thu\Fri, it's got some handy links in it.

Thanks for that! I'll take a look. When you do, they will verify the numbers you input are correct.
