Van is a 2006 Ducato, we are converting to a camper. I've had a few bits of welding done that I hadn't foreseen, but otherwise is solid.
My question is, where the plastic step liners in the cab are screwed in, the plastic retaining clips are loose (some of them) in their holes as the metal they push into has corroded away slightly.
My local garage did one of them when he did the other welding, but said not to worry about the others.
Is this true? I'll attach photos just so we are clear which bits I mean.
The van is a keeper, so I don't want anything left that will become a nightmare.

Well they won't magically repair themselves, so really it's a question of how quickly they're likely to get worse.

I suppose. I don't know how quickly they would get worse. Are they likely to be an MOT fail, out of interest?

Need to take the liner out and have a look, prod etc.

I have had the liner out and it is as I thought. The issue really is just where the screw retainer clips are held in place. I'm tempted to just clear them up, treat them and just bond the plastic clips in place and hope that keeps it at bay

How bad is the underlying metal? The liner can't come fully loose unless all the screws fall out so it doesn't seem like an urgent problem if the body is basically sound, but if the holes are corroded the answer eventually has to be to grind back to sound metal, weld as necessary to repair it and re-drill. If you're worried about stuff flapping around until them, there's nothing stopping you from using some additional self tappers between the existing screws.
