Flashed on the A1 - Questions!

Driving back from a hospital appointment with my wife and son last Friday north bound on the A1 near St Neots.

In lane 1 and Waze warns of speed camera.

It's a 50 limit and I'm doing indicated 55 so I back off a little.

Speed camera is clearly visible maybe 50m ahead.
Car in Lane 2 passes me doing maybe 5-10mph more so definitely over 50.

Passes the camera, nothing, I pass the camera literally 2-3 seconds after at indicated 52 (Waze), it flashes!!
Obviously didn't back off enough but thought 52 would be enough not to trigger it.
I always go through average speed areas at 10% over with no ticket.

Do some cameras only pick up vehicles in Lane 1?
It was a modern design, circular and quite small I think. Not the usual GATSO type bulky square type.

Will just have to wait now but clean licence and first one in 10 years so not too bothered.
Maybe do me good to do another course.

Absolutely fine, you won't get any action for 52 in a 50.

Only car around was the one in lane 2 who was past the camera when it flashed so hopefully it was just calibration but never happened before.
