Internaet access abroad
Discussion
Hello everybody,
first post here (I'm usually on the car forums!)
Done a search but nothing has shown up so here's my question:
I want to take my laptop to Italy and I may need to have access to the internet. (sorted the telephone plugs and leads)
I'll be working from a house out there so which is the cheapest way to get a dial up connection.
Thanks for any help.
Damn! the title should have said "INTERNET"

Try www.libero.it (a Freeserve type of access)

Scary! I just remembered I'd subscribed for it a few years ago so I logged in and the email account was still active!!! Just downloaded the dialup settings and I'm ready to go.
Thanks

Ok , if that ones sorted , what is the likelyhood of my Wi-Fi laptop working in US hotels this summer ? Is it a service they may provide , and is the wireless compatible with our EU standard ?
Most hotels seem to offer broadband service for free. (I stayed in Hilton Head (South Carolina) and in Pisa) and both had wireless access.
Unfortuantly I didn't have my laptop with me on either occasion to test but i'm guessing its just a case of entering the SSID and password onto your laptop which the hotel would provide.

I work in various countries overseas and if the hotel doesn't have broadband, phone cards for net access are always available from local shops and they're really easy to set up. Dial-up speeds of course, but when you're in the back of beyond, then beggars can't be choosers.
