Anyone else who can’t remember names?

In general I have a pretty good memory, as evidenced by being pretty good at exams and despite no natural talent I’ve taught myself five languages and so know the “name” for hundreds if not thousands of object in six languages. In a quiz at my tennis club last week I could recall the name for Gremlins before they become Gremlins (mogwai - which I’ve now learnt is actually a Chinese word meaning demon/monster) yet I am hopeless at remembering people’s names. Generally I am okay with faces so I know I know them but often struggle to recall their names. We were invited over by our neighbours just over a week ago and met a new neighbour. Spent ages speaking to her yet when I saw her yesterday I couldn’t remember her name!
I have survived over the years with this “disability” but it has caused me anxiety and makes social events difficult because people do get upset if you can’t remember their name (when other people would).
Anyone else suffer from this or another selective failure of memory?

Most people have this.
I'm worse. I have a terrible memory full stop. If I don't write things down I will forget them. I have an app to record my calls, and I have to record (with permission) meetings, or I'll have no clue what was said.
It's annoying as I have a reasonably high IQ, but can't remember simple stuff. Give me a complex problem and I can solve it, as long as I remember you asking me to look at it!

+1 drove my ex mad, can't say Mrs. Iroc's too enthused about it either (but, bless her, she accepts it's part of who I am)I’m exactly the same OP. I didn’t study particularly hard for exams as I can recall facts and “stuff” with ease. I amaze myself (but nobody else) with the random stuff I’ve remembered over 41 years on this earth.
But literally minutes after being introduced to someone I have forgotten their name. Or maybe not even registered it at all. It’s like I zone out at the “my name is xxx” bit.
One of the benefits of the current situation is that all of my meetings at work come with an outlook invite (no random walk ups to your desk) and/or a list of attendees during webex meetings.

I’m terrible at that, which is a real pain when it comes to work, especially when I’m running a training course!
The worst place is when I’m on an exhibition stand though! People I’ve known for years come up and say hi, remembering my name, while I spend the majority of the ensuing conversation trying to catch a glimpse of their name badge!
The really annoying part is that I generally remember where they work, what they do and what equipment they have!

I'm bad at names too but it seems to depend how much interest I have in the person as to how much effort my brain put in to remembering it.
Its easier when the mrs is around and I've met the person and she hasn't as I just don't introduce her. She then introduces herself eventually and I listen in for the name.

I suffer from this as well initially, takes a few goes for it to sink in and that happens usually at the point that I call them the wrong name and they correct me.
I have just put it down to taking lots of naughty tablets in my youth.
Weirdly I work in a job where I have to remember to do 40 or fifty completely un connected things in a day, and manage fine. It's generally only in social or domestic situations where I forget stuff.
Isn't the human brain an amazing thing.
I can recall the registration number of every car and bike either I or my parents have owned since 1978 but sometimes I forget what I went in the kitchen for and just open the fridge while I think about it,..
