moving hosting if bought a wordpress theme

Hi,

Friend has wordpress site that he had built using salient theme. he's getting charged a fortune monthly hosting and have suggested moving to a different host. question is if he does, does he own the theme files - ie can he just pick up the files and move them elsewhere or is he tied to that agency?

He can move the website no problem as the files can be stored wherever. The Theme and site will also continue to work. If he paid for the Salient licence himself then he can renew as he always has.

If the site licence was paid by a third party, they could stop this however he can simply purchase his own licence and re-link the site to continue to receive updates. You don't need an active subscription for the site to work, you'll just stop receiving updates and no theme support from the Salient devlopers.

No problem, remember when migrating WordPress it's not as simple as simply moving the website files, the database will also need to be migrated.
