Okay, Ive never been on track (on a bike), would it be insane to turn up to a novice track day on a 24 year old carb'd naked 600 diversion? Would i get heinously in the way of everyone else on supersport machinery or would it be a good way to start?

Novice group at Brand's earlier this year, young(ish) bloke with his mates was on a brand new R1. I not only overtook him,but lapped him as well, and I'm pretty s**t!

In the fast group was another rider doing his race licence on what looked like an old GS500,he was mustard!

So no,you'll be fine on just about anything.

You should see how the CB500 contingent go! 50 odd bhp, there's plenty in inters and a few in advanced. It's not about the bike, but the rider.

Absolutely! You cannot judge pace by the bike!

There was some guy on a scooter last year in the novices at brands, he certainly wasn’t the slowest.

First bike trackday nerves/worries are totally unjustified, you’ll do your first session and be itching to get back out for the second guarantee it!! Get it booked up!!
