Hope you PH massive can help me out.
My little sister (18) has been driving since she was 17.
Over the weekend she was followed by an unmarked police BMW and she did the following:-
80mph through a 40mph roadwork’s on a dual carriageway, 100mph on same road before the roadwork’s undertaking various cars and a couple of other smaller things that I can’t remember now. The copper stopped her she is going to court charged with Dangerous driving.
What is likely to get? I will be surprised if she keeps her licence.
If she gets convicted of dangerous driving how longs does it stay on her licence?
Any help or info would be good.
Ps Have already bollocked her and parents I think are going to shoot her later.

I am afraid that on the facts you have given, she would appear to be in big trouble where her licence is concerned.
If she has only been driving a year and gets convicted of DD, she will have to go through the whole process of driving tests again. She is also likely to get a substantial period of disqualification.
What possessed her to behave in such a rash manner?

Big trouble.....
in her defence though i was a bit of an arse on the roads ar her age (spare me the obvious comeback).
If you are confident in your driving ability it doesnt seem that bad, even where it is misguided confidence.
Somehow, though, I dont think the judge will share my liberal opinion!

Thanks for the replys all.
BC, i have no sympathy for either, it does serve her right as i had and my warned about her driving!
I am just asking what the end result would be.
She says she does feel very bad about it, as to how bad i will find out when i visit next month.
Do you think she will get a fine as well??

i imagine she feels bad cos she got caught...I would too!
whatever else they do, they will almost definitely fine her. The weight of the fine will likely depend on
a) how much money she has/says she has
b) how severely they penalise her in other ways.
If (by some utter miracle) they don't ban her then I'd expect a pretty heavy fine and lots of points. If they do ban her then the fine is likely to be lighter as she's paying in another way....
good luck to her

Rude-boy said:Good point. I can only presume that the plod did not feel that they could safely pull her over earlier in the piece. The only other interpretation would be that they didn't feel that the 80 in a 40 and 100+ were a danger to other road-users.
...how come she wasn't pulled as soon as she'd committed one of the 3/4 offences mentioned?
She's likely to get atleast 6 points which at her age means having her licence taken off her and having to re-sit, possibly after a ban. Also will get a fine I suspect.
Unlikely that an appeal with have any influence even if she needs her car as they were just plain excessive and unjustifiable speeds.

Maybe she'll learn to use the rear view mirror more in future if she's going to drive like that. Goes to show if she hadn't noticed them earlier then she probably wasn't actually paying that much attention, which isn't the best thing when driving like that!
On a side note, my workmate decided one day after possibly another one of his "worst day of his life moments" (has tried to commit suicide a few times, so was really having a BAD day), decided to drive VERY badly.
105mph undertaking on the motorway in the 1st and 2nd lanes, while kinda weaving in and out too!
Plod were following him and pulled him over. He broke down in tears in the back of the Plod car and was very sorry and explained his whole day to them.
Anyway, he was let off! Still, I did mention to him when he finally got to work he was driving like a madman, and could have killed himself and others!
Dunno whether it was good for the police to totally let him off though. Probably didn't want him even more upset and killing himself I guess
