Who Has The Balls To Reform The NHS
Discussion
I work for the NHS and can see every day the utter waste of money that goes on, in my little corner they must squander thousands a month due to incompetence and basically getting poor value for money.
I can just imagine this s
t show country wide billions of taxpayers money being flushed down the pan and no one gives a f
k as there is always plenty more to spend.
So who would you nominate to go in there and sort it out...they will need a huge pair of balls that's for sure.

Lots of money in it and it's a pseudo religion for some, so no-one would want to be burned as a heretic for touching it.
Anyone who did look at it would have to be utterly decoupled from the existing system and any emotive arguments, and look at it purely as the service provider it's supposed to be.
Maybe they should ask Jeff Bezos, he's already hated anyway and Amazon seems to mostly work...

not trying to be confrontational or anything but if you can see lots of areas where money is squandered in your little corner , why don't you do something about it (in your little corner at least)?
Doesn't usually end well, the system has a habit of eating whistleblowers or anyone else being a 'problem'.sawman said:

Absolutley...I try to do this everyday but there is this wall which you come up against, no one listens or helps or gives a f
k...its a horrible working enviroment the general public do not see this side of the NHS. In reality it will be sorted out by more privitisation by the back door. Eventually there may only be a core NHS service run directly by the government, and the rest will be contracted out - with the efficiencies (and cost cutting) private enterprise might bring. I just hope we don't end up with a 2 tier NHS, where if you have the money you can opt in for some extras that aren't available to others (like reduced waiting list times)

It needs an utter b
d to go in there and flush out all the dead wood who have their snout in the trough, I'd bet there would be plenty running for the doors if they had to justify their jobs to a CEO who would scrutinize their performance.
Gerry Robinson thought it would be simple : https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC21370...

Any slight attack is responded to by 99% of the population saying “not our NHS”. The working conditions can be poor (from what I hear), trying to make a complaint that doesn’t involve compensation and, god forbid, suggest areas for improvement results in a door slammed in your face. The amount of egos within the organisation from top to bottom is astonishing
Do you feel the problem is waste or a lack of cash ?
All politicians think throwing money at it is a good thing, but would sorting out how it functions be better / save money.
I have experienced it a couple of times over the past few years as a visitor and a patient.
There always seemed to be lots of staff milling around chatting and dirty plates that need clearing etc.
My other has been in hospital in France and I didn’t find that much better.

not so sure about that - I work in both NHS and private sector - I don't see that much difference between the two (infact I might say my nhs trust is more effective!)s1962a said:

I think the problem with that is in general when services are “privatised” they bake in the worst elements of the public sector and the worst of the private. As the services need to be provided the provider can not be allowed to fail so the provider has to be a big unwieldy company that is to big to fail, so why bother?

Are private hospitals and GP practices really 'too big to fail'?As the services need to be provided the provider can not be allowed to fail so the provider has to be a big unwieldy company that is to big to fail, so why bother?
