Outlook and Gmail Account
Discussion
Hi All,
After a few hours of googling, entering the password etc I am now escalating to the experts on PH!
I am trying to add a gmail email account to outlook 2016. I have tried both POP and IMAP, neither work. Both enabled in settings (one at a time).
I tried the input and output servers, ports etc, just can't seem to actually sign into my account via outlook.
The domain of the email address is not gmail.com, but rather of the charity organisation - is this where I need to do something different?
(I can check my email by logging into gmail with my non-gmail domain email address, i.e. business account ).
Thank you in advance.

It could be the secure apps setting - https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255...
It's all down to Google - they do not want you using anything else bar the online gmail client and especially not 3rd party email programs - you have to go to gmail security and deselect the 'prevent insecure apps' option. If it's not selected, do so, save, then remove and save.
In the past Google automatically enabled it when you went to the security settings page regardless.
