I'm considering getting back into a Cerbera after owning a couple of 4.5's in the very distant past. But where have they all gone?! it looks like you guys are keeping hold of them or am I looking in the wrong places?

4.5s seem to come up rarely and get snapped up quickly!

Depends how much you want to spend.. They seem to hover around the £24k+ mark.

Might be less as we are now in the quiet time.

For what it's worth, i've kept my eye on the classifieds on and off for a few years after selling my previous cerb. I've since jumped back in to ownership. Nicer example this time round but prices climbing up.

Generally speaking, there are less available. When i bought my 4.2 10 years ago, there were generally between 20 and 30 listed at any one time, maybe down to high teens in the off season. Price ranged from 10k up to 25k.

Numbers have steadily declined and prices risen to where we had about 18-20 listed in the depths of the summer down to 8 now i think, ranging from 20 to 45k.

No 4.5's listed at the mo i think either.

Thanks Russell ..

I thought Cerbera's were an acquired taste!

I may be able to buy one of the ones I used to own (around 2003 I think was when I sold it). Its a 1998 factory special 4.7. Lovely colour combo. However its been stored a number of years without use by the guy I sold it to. Its on 25k miles. How much would you offer?

Notice that you are up the road from me in Exeter.

No worries,

Its probably a feeling shared by most on here, but as much as I like cars, nothing else looks as good as a TVR; to me at least. A cerb specifically. It was that or possibly a tuscan.

No idea what I'd offer having not seen it. As much of a cop out as this is, it'll cost what it's worth to you alone. I paid more than I had budgeted for my 4.5 but it is exactly what i would've spec'd from the factory if they still made them. I had no idea one existed in the colour combo, engine size, age, mileage etc. I can imagine most will hold their value now anyway, it's just finding someone that loves it as much as you do.

Nice, yeah not far from Exeter. I'm genuinely intrigued as to the car and who is selling it, especially a one off 4.7. Sounds special.

what about this one? A bit pricey but it ticks all the boxes for me except for the mileage which is a little high.

Head turner for sure. I think that one was on the classifieds in the summer. If it helps it's been for sale for a few months now, so maybe a bit of haggle?

Red Rose, got to be pretty rare now.

The thing I noticed going from a Mk1 to a Mk2 cerb, were a few little quality of life things. A pillars finished in same colour as body actually look better to me than the carbon fibre on the mk1. headlights are clearer, brighter and even though I had a headlight conversion, seem to cover the road a bit better? Wipers actually work and the windscreen washer spary is built in to the body and not the useless tube on the wiper arm.

Not that you couldn't save yourself 15K and uprgade these individually but it just made it a little more useable to me.

Well I was selling my 1998 4.5 in Sept / Oct 2019 for £22k (sub 40k miles) and after 6 weeks, I accepted a part ex to sell it. Almost no contact from anybody interested. Perhaps the metallic purple put them off. smile

Cash buyers with over £20k are much more likely to buy from a specialist. These cars, though are often sale or return and exactly the same cars, but with a profit margin built in, but gives buyers a warm a fuzzy feeling..... Their 'warranties' are really just putting money aside and crossing their fingers. It's why SOR cars are often excellent because they have to guarantee them.

I'm happy to buy privately but most probably aren't as you say.

i think the red bull cerby has had a paint job and upholstery work.

They go quick, I sold mine to Sr8six for a good price with a 2 min phone call (they had serviced it for the last 8 or so years), they then sold it within a week.

Good cars don't hang around long.

That mileage isn't too high, they get temperamental when not used.

I have seen this car and it is lovely, the price reflects the condition and the Warranty from SRT8SIX is bullet proof so you can be sure of no bills for 12 months.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if prices progressively head north on these. Mine (one of the last off the line) has sadly been off the road for a couple of years as a result of work and had been planning on recommission gong this summer but seeing the best ones now at £40k+ makes it tempting to go for a full restoration.

Every now and then (like this week on PH) I see articles about the sagaris, which gets me browsing the classifieds, but for me the cerb remains the high point of TVR.

I was getting all Ferrari for a moment! ... yes 2.7K a year is pretty good. I have emailed str8six so lets see where that takes us as I would want to trade in my Griff.

What mileage do you think a 20 year old car should have? 5K a year would put it at 100K miles

These guys have just got one in. No affiliation, but they really do prepare their cars well:

Car not on the website yet. I’ll see if I can get a photo from their FB page.
