Deleting from a thumb drive , taking soooo long

Im try to delete the contents on my thunb driver (Sandisk)

Im opening up the "removable disk" in my computer and selecting all then deleting.

I get a delete window telling me its going to take 180 mins, that cant be right, I thought it would be almost instant, any suggestions on speeding this up ?

Certainly sounds a bit odd - Could try to format it (just use the quick option if just erasing stuff).

I've noticed that on machines running .NET, any file delete operation takes significantly longer than before.

Have you recently installed .NET?

I ended up deleting by using the Format.

All is now well
