Shoreham Vettes - Fri 1 July
Discussion
This is only for anyone planning to attend the event and based away from the South coast. A24 is probably our best route to Shoreham airport and some of us are planning to meet up 6.00 to 6.15 pm at the "bikers cafe" on the A24 at the foot of Box Hill.
It's easy to find on the dual carriageway A24 between Leatherhead and Dorking, southbound side just before a roundabout. Sure to be Vettes outside!

Great fun if mildly moist ![]()
Mrs TEKWIZ managed 12.69 in the wet in her 1999 auto, they have been up to some sneaky modifications me thinks.......
I believe a porta-potty is the next mod![]()

Well what a great night, big thanks to Mike for setting this all up.
Dont feel bad guys, you have been beaten by "TEAM TEKWIZ"
yes we have made modifications, mostly the VARARAM 2, which obviously done its job possibly helped by a little water vapour? Of course there where some quick cars there with a lot more HP than us but the drivers (you know who you are) seemed to have trouble getting it on the tarmac, but dont forget Mrs TEKWIZ is a formidable driver I could not beat her when we both ran same car at Santa Pod. As to the porta potti modification, not needed, not whilst they have nice electrical cabinets on M23
Hopefully Mike can get this location again so we can defend title. (We may make some additional modifications but this is classified at the moment).
Just one more thing does this mean "RED CORVETTES ARE THE QUICKEST"

The Escort Mexico+nitrous ran a 12.79 the next fastest Vette was 12.82 by 5USA. The top speed of 116 was by the Mustang although the best et was 13.37.
Traction problems were evident- congrats to Mrs Kekwiz on a superb lesson in how to get the power down onto the ground. Clearly by the time I've fitted my Blackwing/headers/BB's/nitrous etc,etc I'll be in the 10's...provided it's dry.
I assume everyone will be up for it again next year?

I think you need to ratify those times at Santa Pod or Avon Park. They do seem to be extremely quick. Indeed R&T only got a 13.1 out of a Z06 and high 12's are the order of the day for the 405bhp although with Nitto's, there are a few running 11's in the US.
Then again, what was the surface like? Most drag strips are much harder to launch on compared to tarmac.

OK, I've decided not to live in the past and updated my name. No more michael79.
The surface at Shoreham was an open asphalt- a bit like the "whisper tarmac" on parts of the M25. Because it was porous there was no standing water. However even in the wet conditions the Pace Car and Mustang were getting a traction advantage through their insane burnout routines.
I knew that I should launch at 3000rpm and shift quickly..but that old adreneline kicks in and reason goes up in smoke.
I did find myself looking at "power adding " brochures at the weekend. Blower or nitrous though....
