Following the sale of our house, we will be moving into a caravan for a few months whilst our new build is completed. There is no Wi-Fi at the site so looking at 4g dongle type options.

What options are there for getting mobile 4g or similar for the few months we are in the caravan? Looking at online use for two adults and a 11 year old. Little bit of streaming (Disney and amazon) for the kids, internet etc.

I have a 100gb package with my phone, is piggy backing off this doable. I used probably 30gb over the month and very rarely hook up to the WIFI at home as my 4g is faster via mobile.

Has anyone got recommendations or thoughts.

Cheers.

Have you not answered your own question? Your mobile connection is faster than your wifi and have a spare 70Gb.

Just check the signal where your caravan is sited. If you want a dedicated 4G router to free up your phone, there are lots available. TPLink are recommended for about £50-£100, and unlimited mobile data sims for £15-20.

Check whether your network limits tethered data, it may have a lower limit than your allowance

Most iPhone/Android can allow tethering, a lot of contracts/sim deals allow it but most are limited.

Something like 100gb a month but only 15gb tethering etc.

GF does a thing on EE, she has 3 phones, 2 tablets all with simcards (Kids stuff) she has unlimited data on her phone and transfers data to other devices as and when she needs it via some kinda EE family thing.

We've just set a new office up at work, and used a TP Link 4G router whilst waiting for a "proper" connection to go in.

If you're in a half decent 4G area, like the office is, you could be getting 40mbps. This was sufficient for half a dozen people doing cloud based office work, although if a couple of people were trying to do Teams meetings with video, it would struggle.

Smarty were doing an unlimited data plan for £20 a month, and no contract, as a consumer product. (This was 6 months ago.) They use the 3 network.

Any friendly neighbours? You could jump on their WiFi.

piggy back phone will do it but the throughput is slow.

get a mifi and an appropriate sim. I got a huawai one and a SMARTY unlimited sim £18pm. As long as the mobile signal is ok, this is a better option than phone. We use it for the touring caravan.

p.s. If I refer you to SMARTY, you get a free month (and so do I).ping me if inerested
