OK, so we fancy a few days down thar...er, there :D... any suggestions for a good base to see bits, pub at had, that kind of thing... not into water sports, maybe a bit of walking or cycling...
Me Julie used to visit Mevagissey as a kid but that was aeons ago, she can't remember any of it... :hehe:

I thought Looe and surrounding area was great but the lizzard had vast open spaces but nowhere to visit. You seemed to take ages in the car to go such a short distance also if you have pets I found that there is nowhere around the area to wander. But Looe and polperro is a
(dont forget the boat ride).

Newquay is nice and st ives too. just stay away whent he kids are off school. gets very busy

If you are in the Whitsand bay area, be sure to pop into the St John inn which is where you will find lock in carnage and petrol project heaven. (That's E of Looe) Whitters has a good beach and some nice walks, it's beautiful and a good base. In fact you've got Mount Edgecombe house and some interesting walks napoleonic forts to poke around.
As a true redneck with total familiarity of all things coastal, I would insist on you visiting Trebarwith Strand near Tintagel. It's arguably beautiful, you've got some cracking coastal walks. Besides, the cove immediately north of Trebarwith at low tide has an impressive slate cavern halfway up the cliff. It is climbableuptoable also. Cracking place with big caves.
Prohibit yourself from +/-20miles up and down from Newquay (shithole)

I found the The Eden project to be the biggest pile of pretentious crap going. Yup - those domes are very, very impressive for a whole five minutes. After that getting constantly lectured about how my car is going to make the entire planet shrivel up like a raisin Pissed - Me - Off.
Do it and make up your own mind...but if you want to see and walk around some interesting gardens go see "The Lost Garden's of Heligan". Not far from the Eden Project and much better. Some really nice harden art, pleasant walks, an interesting background story worth reading up on first so the restoration project makes sense and you know what you are looking at - great.
