I'll be doing more front end stuff on my W123 over the next month or so and need a proper internal type spring compressor.

Don't suppose anyone knows where I could hire one?
If not, has anyone used an eBay one with success?

I bought one off ebay for £47.50 in Dec 2018.
It worked fine on the front springs but I recall struggling a bit with the rears. I think the central shaft was catching on the hole in the arm.
Possibly wouldn't cope with regular professional use but fine for the few times I have used it.

Thanks for that. Was it used on your SL?

Just changed the front springs on my W210 with no problems using an Ebay one.

Ebay doesn't have its own standard for tooling. You can buy anything from cheap crappy rubbish to commercial garage quality on there.

I realise that. There is a range of pricing for these on ebay from £30 to about £100. They all look the same including the packaging. The proper Klann tool is about £1300. I would rather rent the proper one but don't know anywhere that does that.
I'm pretty sure the ebay ones are all the same with different pricing. There is one made by Draper so may go with that as at least it's a known brand.
