Anyone on here got both?

I’m still waiting for my PS5 but having read and watched some reviews it appears the PS5’s DualSense controller is fantastic.

Is it enough to sway people from one console to the other though?

The XSX is slightly more powerful but it comes with a bog standard Xbox controller. Other than the Resume function, is there anything next-gen about it at all?

I suspect people will stick with what they know, like and more importantly what their friends use if they play online.

The controller on the ps5 is really good, a step forward - just need more games now that make full use of it

I'm not convinced there is such a thing.

The xbone was less powerful but still played great. Then the project Scorpio xbox upgrade arrived and was more powerful than ps4 pro. Don't really believe that made a clear winner. The only major variable was the games available on each and total sales says the ps4 sold more. So Sony "won".

Both the new xbox and the ps5 look like great upgrades and this time microsoft seem more committed and capable of bringing the top games to xbox. So really its hard to consider a winner at this point.

Some financial specialist will tell you which company won but I expect the owners all feel they have great kit to play modern games.

Only a fool would change console based on the controller. Especially when the Xbox controller is considered as the best and perfect already.
There is no winner, only fanboys are bothered by things like that.

I really want to play timesplitters 2 on next gen. I was assuming I would be able to do it on both, but xbox back compatability seems better? (Either way - a gross misuse of a next gen console getmecoat)

Not seriously looked into it yet as ps5 sold out (is xbox?)

Microsoft will be observing, if the controller looks like a decider for people, they will have their own innnovative controller out soon enough.

At the moment it doesn't matter, as both companies will be selling every console they make untill approx April next year. Once supply matches demand is when we will see which is more popular.

This gen is akin to a significant GPU and SSD upgrade to the previous gen. The games won't significantly improve but loading times and FPS will. I think we're at peak console for now much like we are with phones, just a step forward rather than a leap.
That said I'm looking forward to seeing what the new haptic PS5 controller is like.

The difference is phones come out every year or two, whereas consoles are released every 7-8 years, so they will always look like a leap.

Regarding who's won, I've always been PS1 > PS2 > Xbox 360 > Xbox One, but will be switching to PS5 now to try all their exclusives that I've missed out on, plus that's what all my mates are getting. I've always preferred the Xbox controller though, but this new PS one looks brilliant. Either way, it's a great time to be a gamer, give it a year and we'll have some games that are making use of all the new graphics cards and power the new consoles are capable of.

Both consoles are selling out faster than they can make them so I'd say both are winning at the moment.

I've gone PS5 because PlayStation has always been my go to. Happy with my choice so far, the controller is brilliant, the UI is pretty and the look of the console is growing on me too.

Reviews I've read show Ps5 ahead in the fps competition, which is surprising given xbox is supposed to theoretically faster.

How do we determine who "won" exactly ?

It'll be some time (years) before we actually see where the market goes.

Microsoft are making a play to be netflix of video games with gamepass. Bethesda cost them $7.5bn and they either set up or bought another 6 or so studios a few years ago. All of those are going to need investment and operating costs covered, I did read an interview with one bethesda guy saying he was looking forwards to building bigger games and engines etc - not cheap.
Meanwhile MS have recently said gamepass makes little money and if you look around there are cheap deals, some are multi year. They need to make gamepass attractive enough that people are willing to pay more than they do now and keep on buying it. I'd guess they're looking at 100m subscribers. MS have deep pockets, but surely they'll want it to make some profit at some point.

Its where the Series S box comes in I think - as its cheaper people will buy it as a second device. I thyink its a good way to increase their user base.

Sony need to decide what they are doing with PS Now. It actually has more games than gamepass but no new releases. The controller is getting a lot of praise and its encouraging to see that 3rd parties have or are planning to add support for them - lets see how that works out.
They also need to keep their exclusives quality and quantity coming - there's some weird stuff going on lke the "destruction all stars" game, which hasn't been particularly well received and has now been slated to be a freebie next year. Not good enough. I don't quite get their strategy of putting exclusives (or some of them) on PC.. kinda gives away the family jewels.

Who "wins" isn't that important really, just go with the one that your mates have or has the exclusives you like.

Depends what custom written game it is playing too. Plus the rates are so high the average person cant tell between them.
As with the Xbox One, it all depends on how many companies actually make full use of the specs. There were still a lot of st games on the last gen that barely touched the potential.
The main reason the buy either one is exclusives and load times.

I've got both, I've preferred the xbox controller since the 360 days, but the new PlayStation controllers seems pretty good and comfortable. Only problem I'm having is, having to sit on the floor and play it plugged in like a peasant because mine seems to be having charging problems, would much prefer it if it had AA batteries like the xbox controller, I have about a dozen eneloop batteries pretty much always charged.

Wow, the difference here between the Xbox Series X and PS5 is quite remarkable in some areas yikes

I wonder what's causing the PS5 to perform better? The general consensus from the lead up to the next gen consoles is that if you want the best looking version of games then the Series X is the way to go, but this doesn't look too promising at all...

Can you buy a longer USB cable on Amazon? I have some extensions for my PC mouse and Keyboard as the base unit is quite far away.

Probably will try that next, tried using a charger plugged in right next to where I sit but that didn’t seem to be working for some reason :S
