This sound a bit worrying...997.2 onwards. Tempest in a teacup or real issue? Any info?

The issue pre-dates by a couple of days VAG's latest failure in the UK class action relating to the defeat device fix so it can't relate to their worries over this, but I wonder who else is persuing them through the courts?

The judge in the UK hearing last Friday allowed the charges to include the fix as being a cheat as well as the original defeat device.

It may only take a few more court case failures to put VAG out of business.

""It is a "Quality Assurance Hold" for certain used vehicles equipped with the Sport Chrono Package. All the dealer bulletin says is that Porsche is investigating emission performance of certain specific model year vehicles equipped with the Sport Chrono Package. While the investigation continues and out of an abundance of caution, Porsche is requesting that affected vehicles in Dealer's inventories be placed on a Quality Assurance hold until further notice. 2012 through 2016 911s with Sport Chrono are listed, as are certain Cayennes, Panameras and 981s with the Sport Chrono Packag . Porsche is working to develop and interim solution and will follow up with additional instructions as soon as they are available. Dealers are told not to sell, lease rent or loan any of the affected vehicles in the meantime."

A friend last week was buying a 2017 Cayenne GTS from the Porsche dealer; just as the deal closed they told him they could not complete our to the sport chrono issue which is apparently linked to the emissions standards. ( this is in Canada). Does anyone know what specific cars are affected?.There appears to be no fix at this time.

Cayenne S Diesel has had a recall which has changed the function of Sport/Sport Plus for cars with Sport Chrono mode....if the car goes into your OPC for any work it seems like it is mandatory “software update”. It’s not a Recall because that puts the onus on Porsche and implies there is a fault. BMW did a similar thing years ago when thieves were breaking windows and plugging laptops in to the OBD ports to steal cars....they issued a software update not a recall.

There’s a thread on here about it. Sounds like it’s across the range though !

Thks for the info. In this case (a week ago ) the dealer stopped the sale due to the sport chrono issue on a non -diesel. I checked their used inventory and found that all similar models had disappeared. I saw a list of the models involved and do not have anything on the list but there is no statement from Porsche I can find.

I guess we’ll find out soon enough if this is a North American or Global issue. I assume that because SC “increases performance” or more particularly changes the mapping on the gearbox it has an impact on economy/consumption,

Yep agreed. The fix will be a problem if it reduces performance and I doubt that Porschhe will buy back a load of cars they way VW did here during diesel gate. I can see some very upset owners though.

I was wondering about the global impact...usually the US/Canada are less stringent that Europe on this kind of stuff, so surprised it has not shown up in Europe
