Hot-Start Starter Motor

Have just returned from a cracking little trip through Spain (3000 miles to Gibraltor and back !). Whilst this may seem brave, it was damned good fun.
Unfortunately though, picked up a couple of gremlins along the way. Firstly, suffered overheating (bubbling effect as described in someone elses's recent post), but this appears to have resolved itself half way round the trip. Car had suffered similar symptoms in the past and although i drained and re-filled previously, it's possible i still had some pollutant in the system (RadSeal once put in to get me home from south wales). Anyway, by day 5 and after losing a total of 10 litres (in 5 days), the problem disappeared and despite outside temperatures exceeing 46c, the engine ran smoothly at 90c. Amazing what Evian can do for your cooling system !!! The thind remained sealed and tight the whole time, the bubbling was in the expansion tank and water was being lost through the overflow pipe.
However, the more baffling gremlin related to the starter motor. After a long drive, the engine would refuse to start again until it had been left for 1o minutes to cool down. Once it had been left standing for 10 minutes, it fired again.
I could hear electrics going round the car (the priming noise you get a split second before the started motor fires the rest of it into action), the fan may or may not be running, but no starter motor. V odd and a little embarrasing/worrying at times !
Could this be a new starter motor required, or given the background outlined above, is it possible something more serious is going on here ?

I think I have the same problem. It started when the outside temperature got hot. Appeared to be the pre-engager of the starter motor that is stuck. As an emergency solution, you should try knocking it a little (with a stick or something long you can reach it with through the engine bay) while you turn the ignition.
I found yesterday that with the temperature being much cooler than the past weeks (rain) the problem disappeared.

As an emergency solution, you should try knocking it a little (with a stick or something long you can reach it with through the engine bay) while you turn the ignition.
I found yesterday that with the temperature being much cooler than the past weeks (rain) the problem disappeared.
