What cigs did you smoke through your life?

Started (age 13) on random 2p "strike and a light" that you bought from th enewsagent opposite school (a single cig and a single match to run off a wall to light yer fag).
First brand I went on were Embassy. Grandfather tried to get m to smoke Capstan Full Strength Navy but I could even chew them they were so strong.
Then when 14-18 went through phases of Embassy, Regal and Embassy Filters and Regal Filters if I felt 'posh'.
Uni it was Malboro' Red in the 1st year. With John Player Specials as a weekend treat. Went off Regals then as they must have changed the tobacco / asbestos ratio as they tasted too fibreglass then.
Then for a brief period there was a real cheap ciggy like JPS you could buy "Deaths Head" but I think they got banned. I remember stoners smoking spliffs with no hash in but made from these "getting stoned".
Got a bit of a bad cough and went down to Marlboro' lights around age 22.
Gave up smoking at 23, no money........
Started again at 25 - Silk Cut Purple. At 30 went down to Silk Cut Blue but that was like breathing fresh air so went to Marlboro' Menthol.
Then there was a brand whose name escapes me (was it Richmond) that did 25 packs?
Smoked them for a few years.
Gave up again between 35 and 42.
Smoked for a couple of years mid 40s (basically to take advantage of last chance to smoke in a pub....daft it sounds but that was part of pub life) but by then there were plenty of places to get fags that would ask you what sort of cigarette you wanted and my usual reply was "a menthol Marlboro' light extra" type one and you would be able to get an unbranded box of 10packets x20 fags for £18 - 30 but whom knows what they really had in them.
Last smoked around five years ago when you got those "menthol" capsules in ciggies. Nice gimmick, hooked me back in for a few months and a couple of grand until I decided polo mints were as much fun.
Roll ups' I liked Old Holborn.
Never got the hang of pipe tobacco.
Did enjoy taking snuff in the office in 1994 after smoking was banned in the office. Once. Then sneezing like a sneezy think for the rest of the day!

I remember going to my GP in around 2013 for a "age xx health check up" and the mid 20s female GP asked has I ever smoked. I said I had and she asked what age I started and I said around 12 or 13. She looked at me like I was Hitler and said "but it is illegal to smoke until you are 18". I replied in Yorkshire we all smoked as kids.
Then she asked my how much I drunk. And I said (can't remember what, but it was over the recommended units by quite a bit) and she said " is that the truth or should I double it?".
I replied "Well seeing as you thought I couldn't smoke when I did, why are you thinking I drink more than I do?".
The look of bafflement was immense on her face and I left the health check with the advice "lose a stone, stay off the fags, drink a bit less and exercise a bit more".
Consulate. I forgot them. Cough or cold in the winter. Paracetamol or Lemsip. Nah. Box of Consulate instead.
Blimey, I hadn't realised how big this heritage hole of history was that many younger generations will never appreciate!
(I was just talking about the money spent on fags of the smoke type with the wife now and we both reckon we spent less of our disposable income on fags and booze in our teens than kids do on mobiles now anyway so perhaps that is the new channels to stimulate the brain for "response"! Mind you, the kids smoking in our local subway have something that definitely doesn't come from a tobacco factory so there must be alternative ciggies on the go.

So first cigs i tried would have been B&H when i was like 13, then started at 15 marlboro reds but moved to Marlboro lights within a year. Stuck with them pretty much all way to giving up in mid 30s. Uni in Scotland regal were popular so did smoke them and for a change lucky strike lights at times. Also YSL sold cigarettes in Selfridges tried them for a laugh few times.
I would still smoke if a) it did not kill you b) i did not have kids c) it did not cost whatever it is now like £13 a pack. I liked smoking but a b and c mean its a young persons game middle agged smokers age fast.

Started at 15 or 16 on Silk Cut and quickly switched to Benson & Hedges special filter. When I moved to the US, I would pick up a box of 5 cartons whenever I was at the airport duty free as the Bensons here in the US are completely different. Eventually decided to stop smoking at 30 and haven't looked back since. That was 17 years ago.

Then onto Rollies as poor, usually Customs free Drum from a guy that sold it in bulk, occasionaly a treat would Boars head.
Then Gauloise for while, followed by a prodigious amount of Marly Reds.....
Used to buy cheap as chips brand "Knights" I think it was, made a very mild Reefer.......I heard.
Massive chest infection made me quit 25 years ago, and seeing the prices today makes me weep to think what i would have spent as a 30/day, buy 40odd if down the pub.......

And that was it until I quit smoking as an everyday thing at the age of about 25. Found it easy to quit the daily bit. Used to smoke when I was in a pub, Marlboro Lights or Silk Cut, but stopped that around the age of 30, maybe 32, and haven’t had a cigarette since. Probably about 15/16 years or more.

B&H Gold, then B&H Silver when they came out. Then onto B&H Dual briefly, until I realised Sterling Dual were cheaper and essentially the same. Then Players Crushball for the same reason. Honourable mentions go to Regal, Club and Mayfair for those times I couldn't get my usual.
Holiday favourites were some Lucky Strike in a black and acid green pack, which had a hollow filter which was cool af. A triumph of slick marketing. Likewise the menthol ball thing tbh, which I was clearly a fan of.

Packed up at the age of 25 when my daughter was born.
Started again for about 18 months when I was 44,mainly through stress of a divorce and it felt good to rebel etc.
I like to think at the age of 62 I won't smoke another!

Smoke Winston blue (75c USD) now or a local brand “Cambo” that cost 50c a pack if there’s nothing around.
The Winston do a “two for one” offer. So you give the company rep two empty packs and he gives you one full pack for free (bizarre I know but that’s how it is!).

As an adult I smoked B&H Gold until I packed it in 18 months ago. There was a year's interlude when I lived in France when it was not that easy to get B&Hs and I generally smoked Gaulloises Blondes Red (I would say Lights but it would be a misrepresentation in ordinary English language usage).

When I lived in Goa we ran out of money for a bit and had to make a £10 note last a week so bought some local smokes that were basically tobacco wrapped in a leaf... with some spices in there!!! Very odd and not nice at all.
