Legalities of recalls and subsequent failing of parts
Discussion
Hi,
My car is due some very expensive parts to fix a power steering problem. The model (Infiniti Q50) was previously recalled in 2016 to rectify such problems. Assuming what I find online so far is true, my car had this recall applied, but lo, 4 years later and the very problem the recall was due to fix has reoccured, and it's not cheap (like £3000 not cheap). I only got the car in 2018.
Infniiti have more or less cleared off now so I'm trying via Nissan to find out what happened with my particular vehicle and whether it had the recall fix applied to it. Either way, does anyone know for sure the legalities of either situation below?
1) Car has failed due to parts not fixed as my model was never taken to a dealer when the recall was done 4 years ago.
2) Car had recall done in 2016. The exact same parts replaced in the recall have now failed for the same reasons the car was recalled in the first place.
Michael.

If the recall was never done, then you should still be able to get it done via Nissan. If there's consequential damage, you'd probably still be on the hook for that.
If it's had the recall and failed, then that's unfortunate, but bar an additional recall, or some Nissan goodwill you're probably out of luck. The Q50 was the Skyline in Japan, so you'd probably be better looking that way if you want to try and cut some cost with remanufactured parted.

Minor update. The recall was done on my car, at the time of me buying it. So that means the fix that was applied then has re-broken 2 and a half years later.
Only my 2p but I suspect your only hope is a goodwill gesture from Infinity and that would be a scarce hope given their departure from the market (their goodwill won't buy them anything). Was it bought brand new? Full dealer history?

Used, 2 owners. Full history. As the parent company I'm appealing to Nissan for the goodwill instead. Was it bought brand new? Full dealer history?
