Hello all. I have just purchased an all new bike. I could do with having it delivered as I don’t fancy using the trains at the moment.

Can anyone share their experience of Shiply? Quotes are ranging from £260 to £100 to get from Maidstone to my place in Warwickshire.
What guarantee do you have the guy quoting is kosher and will look after your bike? Or even actually bring it over.

Any good/bad feedback?

Cheers.

You'll get everything from professional couriers on there to chancers that will squeeze your bike in on a flat bed with someones household furniture, with no loading ramps to get the bikes on and off safely and no insurance for carrying motorvehicles.

I've seen bikes ratched down on a flat bed..on its side.

I'll dig out some pics my friend sent me from a shipley courier that someone who collected a bike from him used...

What ever you do, id make sure you use a professional, insured courier with the right kit to secure you bike correctly, saving £50 soon sours if the bike arrives damaged.

I've used them for house moves. you can ask questions to the individual companies and choose the one you want.
I'm sure shiply are just an agent and you may have no comeback through them.

Look for Chas Mortimer. He is an ex GP rider and knows how to secure a bike.

I think he may even live in Kent too.

I've used SOS motorcycle transport before.

Good service with custom made vehicles.

Thanks all for the pointers. There are some on Shiply which seem better articulated and actually allow to view more info on the web about them.

Is it a CBX ? Sure I saw one for sale in DK and they were advocating Chas for transport.

I always pay the supplying dealer to supply the transport for my bikes, even if it's more expensive.

That way any damage will be down to them, no arguments.

Speak to Tony

Tony specialises in European transport but he’ll point you in the right direction for a one-off UK shipment if he can’t help you himself.

He has the right stillages, etc to ensure it won’t get damaged.

That's my suggestion too, all good dealers have a delivery van, and will also pick up and deliver bikes from services.

Nice bike!

A huge thumbs up from me for the Bike Bus - they shipped from central London to Inverness for me for a very reasonable price and the care they take over their clients pride and joy is second to none - I wouldn't use anyone else.

I’m guessing it’s coming from Laguna? Have you asked them? I’ve had 2 bikes delivered from them that they’ve arranged delivery on, I’m sure it’s something like 2wheels2u? Really nice guy and very professional, I can’t remember the cost but remember wondering how he made money so must have been cheap.
