Looking for a new phone with wireless charging, as (first world silly problem) I often forget to turn on the plug before I go to bed and wake up with a low battery, don't want to take power bank around with me and quite like the idea of just putting it down before I go to sleep and it doing its thing. Great excuse to have a new toy I don't really need!

Current Huawei P30 Lite is great for the cash I paid, but wouldn't mind something a bit more premium.

Thought about the Sony Xperia 5 ii until I realised no wireless charging!!

Any thoughts on the offerings from Samsung and Google?

Can both be had on contract for around 35 a month with plenty of data. Currently giffgaff sim only for £20 so not a massively extravagant upgrade.

I used to have iPhones for years but stopped after the 8 as they never seemed to get noticeably better.

Might be worth seeing what is on offer this coming Friday. Or possibly even buying SIM free and using your existing SIM or getting a better deal elsewhere.

If you have and like the P30 Lite now then have you considered a P30 Pro?

I'd take the Pixel over the Samsung for the cleaner Android experience! But I have had Nexus/Pixels for a few years now.

Mind you the S20 has better specs than the Pixel 5 in terms of processor, screen PPI and size etc.

Samsung software is much better than it used to be.

On my Galaxy S8 there are some useful features that the Pixel lacks. Screenshot editing; unlocking as soon as the PIN is entered; customisable gestures.

I have just got a pixel 5, can't recommend it enough. My wife also upgraded to the Galaxy S20 FE so very similar to the S20 5g.

Going between the two I couldn't go back to Samsung's way of doing things. The pixel feels more like an apple device as in it just works and even though the processor is less than the S20 mine feels rapid due to software optimisation.

You can speed it up a little more in the developer options.

If u are forgetting to turn the switch to on with a normal charger, won't you do the same with wireless charger? Simpler solution will be to leave charger plugged in /switched on and buy whatever phone you want rather than limiting to wireless charging..

Probably worth mentioning the Pixel 5 has pretty bad wireless charging capabilities.

Due to the aluminium frame the phone needs to sit on exactly the correct point to get meaningful charging.

By that I mean, if I dump it on the charger it could say 1 Day 6 hours until fully charged, move it half a centimetre either way and it drops to 6 hours.

I only use wireless charging to top up and not fully charge but it's something to be aware of.

Other than that it's a great phone.
