Anybody on here successfully managed to get a CIMA practicing certificate and satisy the Continuity Partner requirements?
How did you find somebody? Is it just a box ticking exercise or do you have a detailed plan in case its required? Does money chnage hands?

I'm looking to start small with a few clients in North Wales but the only way I can get a CP is via a franchise.

I have a continuity agreement with a CIMA accountant in practice, they found me by looking through the advisor directory of a software advisor directory as most of their clients use the same software and they wanted to ensure that the person carrying on would know how to deal with their immediate affairs.

We have an agreement, no money has changed hands. Didn't know them before they approached me.

Failing that, have you tried accountingweb?

Thanks. Maybe I need to be a little bolder.
I'd assumed an unsolicited approach would be rejected. "Who'd want to enable a rival?" was my thinking.

It’s not enabling a rival though. I’m merely making sure that their clients have someone to approach if something happens. I hope that none of them ever have to speak to me.

I’m sure people will be happy to help if you ask. We all want the best for our clients after all.

Also, I assume that all of their clients would find another accountant to act for them other than me. I’m there so that their immediate affairs get looked after.

How does that actually work? I assume this kicks in on incapacity of the other accountant. You would take over their clients affairs and presumably you would be billing the client directly?

If the other client has a DD set up would you then look to charge the other accountant for your costs?

I guess there has to be something in it for the contuinity partner yes. Once any immediate affairs are taken care of, then potentially transferring business over.
