Interesting challenge to what I would have thought might have been a core BMW demographic..

Afraid of change

You can pay twice the price for half (or less) of the functionality. What's not to like?

More disturbing is they based the campaign on shaming a youtube commentator who left a non offensive comment about their new grille design.

Surprised it's still up tbh, it's going to cost them millions in lost sales

So it's another generic SUV type car thing where you need to look at the badge to see who made it, just like all the ICE and hybrid ones, but with an electric motor. OK BMW, what's your reason not to change? The irony of a car company accusing its customers of being too conservative when they have just launched something so bland and derivative is... words fail me. It even has a fake radiator grille to make it look like it has an engine. LOL as we boomers say.

Nothing better than a large corporation like BMW using 'meme slang', which is only changing because it's being forced to do so.

Even worse they don't have the balls to stick with it. If it were Musk he's double down and end up in some court laugh

I'd say the tweet did exactly what they intended. Huge amount of free publicity and most people are talking about the tweet and not the visual abomination it was advertising.

Exactly, most people will have recognised the joke.I actually thought it was funny.

My kids call me and my wife boomers whenever anything remotely technical goes wrong.

Is anyone honestly offended by this?

My god, BMW are having a Gerald Ratner moment.

First they design a truly hideous grille, which even BMW engineers openly admit looks so awful they thought it was a joke, then they use some yoof slang to attack their core demographic.

I assume their tweet writer has been asked to work from home, for someone else.

Since when has the Daily Mail started blocking ad blockers? I love a good story who's headline begins with "Fury over..."

Their product has been trading on their previous excellence for a while now.

The design and engineering have left a lot to be desired recently and now it would seem the marketing department are keen to join in the mediocrity.

Hello BMW. I just looked at a picture of an iX. It is disgusting. I will stick with my E39 M5 - that's my reason not to change.

Its hilarious, a bit like that other thread with Kwik-Fit clearly having paid someone to promote them on reddit (because thats what the yoof do).

BMW seem desperate on committing commercial suicide at the moment - they havent done it yet, but they are getting close!

Disabling Javascript will bypass it, if you're not worried about seeing the videos or comments.

Anyway, this is the company that has managed to sell the 1 Series, 2 Series Active Tourer,5 Series GT and X6. Being pig ugly doesn't hurt their sales.

Boomers is a badge of honnor nowadays to be honest.

We grew up with Monty Python and later the Young Ones.

Bottom

Father Ted

etc etc

Kidz nowadays have youtube with crap.

I bet my sense of humour is far more whacky than fecking snowflake youngsters getting in all in a twizzle

Talking about BMW, at least they did a funny grille.....

That grill reminds me of this

My solution to all this insanity is just fit a pair of Yokohama A520s
