Europa1 - RIP

The other day I was thinking that I hadn’t seen any posts from Europa1 in a while. I checked his profile (https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/profile.asp?memberId=136407&tab=0&h=0&f=0&t=0) and saw he last posted on 20.09.2020, having been a regular poster until then.

I know he had posted a few times about the impact of pulmonary fibrosis on his life, and sadly he has succumbed to that aged 48. A really decent and very bright chap who, as his moniker suggests, was a huge Lotus fan.

Rest in peace, Dom. Gone far too young. You will be missed

I remember him posting saying he had a terminal illness, so sad he has been beaten by it, RIP old chap.

Sad news most definitely.

Has anybody any background information on him and what happened and what his situation was?

I know there was some sort of link posted above but I don't know how to make that work as it doesn't look like an active link.

I remember him posting in a few threads, he seemed to have come to terms with the inevitable.

Horrifically sad, and I hope all those close to him are OK, and that he is now in peace.

Although I don’t think I ever really had any interactions with him I’ve certainly seen his posts and he’s always seemed like a nice, funny sort of guy.

Thanks for the links.

I can't recall if I ever had any interactions with Europa 1 but it is always sad when we lose a member of the PH community. And he was relatively young too.

Sad news, I’ve read these forums for years and he was a regular name and from memory always pleasant. I remember reading the thread where he commented about his terminal illness, made me stop and think then and again now. 48 is no age, RIP.

Yep, that thread sticks in my mind too. Posted 30.11.19 saying he was told the day before he had less than a year to live. Sadly, they were right, but I cannot fathom living with a time bomb like that.

Survived by both parents and a brother. It must have been one awful journey for them too.

He mentioned in a few threads he had been told his time was ticking away, I hope that made it easier for him and those around him in some way.
