Who’s busier during lockdown?
Discussion
The company I work for is going down the tubes so a lot of people have been made redundant and the people who remain including me have to do all of their work until the work is done and we too get shown the door.
At least if I survive into January (original redundancy date: July) I have the cut in pay and holiday to look forward to.

I think in these pretty awful times for a lot of people, if you are busy keep quiet and don't be smug as the recession hasn't even started yet.
Blimey...you didn’t have to click on the thread!Seems like gloating whilst surrounded by other topic threads on redundancy, furlough, etc etc.

But I did and gave you an honest opinion, if you don't like it just ignore it rather than replying.

One man’s ‘gloating’ is another man’s interest in what other people are doing during these extra ordinary times!Seems like gloating whilst surrounded by other topic threads on redundancy, furlough, etc etc.

Ok .................. for the record my industry is going well, but I put the proviso on that as soon as travel comes back people will stop spending on their houses, so I think I will have a quiet few years in the near future which will balance it out.I hope i'm wrong but suspect the "home improvements / building industry" will be crying out in a few years that they have never had it so bad.
I do not intend to get carried away with a mini boom.
Too busy it's not funny, I have taken 14 days of holiday this year and I still have 30+ in the reserve banks...
I keep getting advised that they would prefer I don't take holiday as I'm vital to many projects and even on days off will get dragged into calls and have to solve problems on the fly.
Currently have 2 new staff being trained up but it looks like they can't cope with the work loads... this is the same work load I did by myself for the past 22 months.

I'm a property manager, and we're very busy. There's still a surprising number of people moving home, while all the people working (or not) from home are causing a big increase in maintenance and repair call-outs. The downside to all of this is that eviction moratoriums have made it essentially optional to pay rent, so we're seeing a ~10% increase in costs and a ~15% decrease in income. Hopefully a lot of that will be caught up later.
ETA: This is all in the Los Angeles area, but I gather it's similar in the UK.

The chap from the home improvements industry...basically what he said. Its fairly obvious that a lot of people are putting money and work into their properties this year, builders, etc are flat out and getting booked into 12-18months down the line.
Ive doubled my workload this year, adding international clients and domestic. Ive had 2 days "off" all year and less than 10 weekends where I haven't worked at least one of those days. I can't wait till Xmas and I can ignore everybody for a week or so. Im mentally completely drained and just want the year to end. Some ppl may be smug about being so busy etc, Im not, Im just fragged.

Me - I work in IT for a Government department. We've been busy scaling our systems to cope with the increased demand as well as rolling out new citizen facing services to relieve pressure on our call centre staff... Not just my team of course but the entire Department and Government for that matter I imagine.
Like a fair few here we're massively busy as, apart from business as usual, we're ensuring we are ready for Brexit which is a real headache. But we are going to survive, in some form or another thankfully, as we have planned for worst case scenario. So we are future proofed but hardly anything to be smug about.

Cool story, delusional and somewhat sad though I keep getting advised that they would prefer I don't take holiday as I'm vital to many projects and even on days off will get dragged into calls and have to solve problems on the fly.
