What is the procedure for fixing them and where can i get a colour match for Rosso pearl?

I would really appreciate a 'step 1' clean with... kind of answer

I just touch them in with a cocktail stick and a drop of paint that I got mixed for me by Paint Tech, one of the many mobile paint repair people around. I know she'll have to have a front end respray eventually but I'm not doing it for some time cos "They all do that Sir"

Leave them to accumulate and show that the car gets lots of use.

Thanks guys but I want to try and learn to do this properly, some of the chips are more crater-like. I have bought some filler etc but I assume that it must be something along the lines of:
1.clean (but with what?)
2.fill
3.paint
4.sand (but with what?)
5.varnish/protect/seal.....

somebody out there must know

I have a Rosso Pearl Chim too - phoned TVR to find out who does this colour as its quite often a mainstream manufacturers paint.
Unfortunately this is a TVR specific colour ( ie extortionate!!) and can only be gotthrough a TVR dealership.
I have ordered a touch up kit - about the size of a nail varnish I'm told,and it will cost me £30+ - WTF??
Whats more that was weeks ago and still waiting and they wont gaurantee a perfect match in colour.
Real bum deal I think (rant over)
Still love my Chim though, but its no wonder people get scared off with running/maintenance costs...

I know what you mean about the colour match, I had a group of girlies from halfords with colour cards trying to get a match for me, they sold me a bottle of stuff that is a pretty good match but I want to know how to repair the chip myself before wasting paint and making it worse. I always think that a poor repair looks worse than a chip.

how big is the chip if you are thinking of using filler???

if you start using filler you will have to sand back a large are which means you will have to go down spray paint route...

if you can get away with it build the chip up with paint using lots of layers until to chip stands proud of the surrounding area and then sand down very lightly with fine wet and dry paper (min 1200...cant remember exactly...higher the number finer the grit)and when it is nearly back to the same height as the surrounding paint buff it out...if it is something you have never done try to recreate a chip on something else so you can see how hard / easy it is to do...it is something i find easier showing someone how to do rather than telling...!!!

Paid that for my Halcon Midas touch up and its not brilliant

Thought I read somewhere on PH that Rosso Pearl was almost impossible to match.

Something about the red being in a "middle" lacquer layer and not a paint pigment at all.
