Isn't just to say you're driving in an 'efficient dynamics' or 'eco' mode/manner?

Not sure as it is in Comfort mode.

Does the 320 have mild hybrid? If it does then it means when you are off throttle and the blue sector is lit then you are recharging. My 630d has the same whatever driving mode you’re in. See the blue section centre of the dials. Apologies for sideways image.

Correct, in comfort mode and off throttle, just checked the BMW configurator and it suggests that there is a small electric motor in the car giving 11bhp, just a bit strange that the sales guy never mentioned it when I was looking at it, also need to re-check the BIK numbers

I think the blue segment indicated that brake energy regeneration is active and recharging the battery.

Mystery solved, as stated above it's just a representation of efficient driving, nothing to do with hybrid technology as that has only just started to appear on the 320d
