Following on from a recent thread ‘Your worst hotel...’ How about the best?

I think mine would be the Cordis Hotel in Hong Kong.
Concierge floor, great location and impeccable service.

El Tovar hotel on the edge of the Grand Canyon, amazing views as the sun rises and sets giving the rocks different colours. Good, if far too big, breakfast too.

The Nam Hai in Hoi An, Vietnam

Superbly well appointed beach bungalows, and the service was second to none.

Swissotel - The Howard, London. Five star I think.

Adjacent to temple station. Since been knocked down. Was a Private in the Army at the time, so way above my pay grade really.

Nice weekend there in a suite overlooking the Thames with my girlfriend.

Other than that, the Crowne Plaza in Leeds I guess.

I've stayed in high end hotels, that same holiday our final night was in Bangkok swimming in an infinity pool about 20 stories up, however nothing has beaten the floating hotel, we had a glorious, tranquil 3 days there, it was amazing.

Rimping Village hotel,Chiang Mai.The hotel is good,the food decent but the staff make it excellent.The staff are its best asset.

Ponsmere Hotel Perranporth Cornwall. Right on the beach went there about 10 years on the trot as the kids wouldn't let us go anywhere else. Met the same folk year after year and some have become lifetime friends for both me and the kids.
Sadly it has now been knocked down with "trendy wendy" flats replacing it.

Probably the Fusion Maia in Da Nang, Vietnam. Private bungalows with own splash pool, sunken bath and an enormous amazingly comfortable bed. Couldn’t fault it.

That floating hotel above looks incredible! I can see this thread costing me a lot of money if the wife gets wind of it.

It was not always the best hotel but I was a huge fan of the Hard Rock in Las Vegas.

Now closed and being turned into a Virgin hotel.

It was a while ago but the Banyan Tree, Seychelles. Apparently we had the same ‘villa’ as one of the Westlife chumps.

In recent times (well, pre-COVID) my hotel of choice for work trips to London was the Premier Inn at Archway. Handy for Euston station and central London and a decent enough restaurant for the price. I tried many hotels in the capital and for the money that was, in my opinion, one of the better ones.

Four Seasons Provence in France. Stunning property, food and rooms about the best I have ever stayed in. Staff just always seem to appear at the right moment. The cherry on the top the spa and indoor pool which were just like something out of a movie. One of those places where all the staff know your name, still amazes me how they do that. It was sold about 10 years ago.

A very close second place is Grantley Hall in Yorkshire. Only recently opened and has a lot in common with the FS Provence. Not quite on the same level but not far off and about 1/3 the price! In fact I would actually say the food at GH was better than the FS.

Came on this thread to say this too.
Last November we stayed for two nights here and it was incredible experience.

Also vote for the forts in the Solent (we stayed in No Mans Fort a few years ago).

The Peninsula in Shanghai was an exceptional place with a superb room,fabulous view, brilliant service.

I note some people liked El Tovar at the canyon but I have always founded the lobby packed with non-residents which spoiled it for me

I'm going to cheat a little, so posted one of my favourites. I've stayed in better, but for location, restaurant, views, and happy memories it deserves a mention.
