Sons Transporter has now gone and he’s looking at replacing it with the above. Car he’s looking at, is a 2017 2.0 TDI SE model with DSG, has a very low mileage (10k) and looks like new. Taking this into account there doesn’t seem like there’s a lot to go wrong, so just trying to find out if there are any downfalls before he proceeds.

Rag it over a few speed bumps at decent speed and listen for creaking rear suspension. Mine does this and was purchased at similar miles (but is the petrol hatchback). I’ve still not tracked down what the problem is and the dealer has been a waste of time. Quick Google suggests a lot of people have a similar problem.

I'd investigate things like door lock microswitches, electric window faults, fuel flap locks. Are they still prevalent in 2017 VAG cars?

Otherwise, love the DSG box.

Make sure the front of the car is attached properly. The first ones creaked due to the shotguns (front chassis legs) not being attached properly.

Otherwise normal shoddy VW build quality that appears to have appeared in recent years. I won’t be getting another.
