5.1 Set up - rear speakers

Hi all,

Moved into my new place and at some point I'll be able to get my AV set up out of storage, alas its currently in France so not sure when...

Moving on;

Will be looking to get the 5.1 set up again, but my sofa is snug against the wall, would it be ok to have the speakers at near the ceiling height and pointing down towards the main seating position?

Or should I just go for a 3.1 set up.

I have the same problem but it works ok stick with 5.1

As above, ideally have them behind you but if not, point them towards the MLP

I put my small surround speakers on the back of the sofa, behind the cushions pointing up. Works ok. Just adjust the surround delay and speaker relative sound levels as required.
