Distribitor Cap

Have any of you replaced your Distributor cap recently ? Mine is looking a bit tatty so went to Landy dealer but rejected all the ones they had because the plastic mouldings around the terminals was cracking, some having fallen off already. They ordered new stock but that was just as bad. Went to Halfords and their stock is the same. I think all the parts I have seen are “Pattern” ones. Any idea what the original (presumably Lucus) part no for the later blue coloured cap as fitted to a 98 Griff. Also has anybody else noticed the same problem with new ones ?

Try ACT (advertises here) - I bought one from them last month and it was fine.

I bought a standard blue LR dizzy cap from my local LR dealer about a year ago, and it was fine.

I always buy a gunuine, lucus part. have had a few with no problems. recomend the guenuine artical over patern parts, due to the slightly less than standard motor, and the high under bonnet temps..

Lucas dissy caps are no longer made, although you can if you're lucky find an original, be aware that most of the Lucas boxed items are infact made by intermotor.

That explains why the expensive Lucas boxed one from the Landy dealer was identical to the cheap Pattern part both of which I rejected because they were falling apart before use.
