ive got a cheap and nasty £10 easyfit jobby on mine but it does the trick! it has a motion sensor(pendualum type) in it so any movement from the geep and it goes off! lucky it doesnt go off with a harsh gust of wind just worn's people away!( its a talking one!! lol )
and it connected to the coil so if anybody does get in without it going off it will sound when they get the ignition on! couldnt opt for actual motion sensors as a proper bugger when the roof is off!

read instructions carefully make sure you know where each wire of the geep you need is and do it
half of the fun of Jago ownership is fixing them
and the more you do to the car the more you learn about it - which will be of great assistance if something ever breaks
might be an idea to source an escort manual of the correct mark
there are wiring diagrams but its doubtful you will work out exactly what model your geep was based on but useful nevertheless for general stuff
if you get stuck theres sure to be someone in the club who'll lend a hand
no alarm on mine at all
theres a steering wheel lock that gets put on sometimes
Good Luck

I live in Manchester tho and they like soft top car and geeps, thing is they dont like asking if they can have a go they just take them, so i need a good alarm. So i will try myself and get a haynes manual.

Hmmmmmmmmm

Nice idea Gerry , interactive "live" alarm system would be good work for the old ladies.

Cat 3 - pokes you with knitting needles if you try to approach Geep

Cat 2 - Whilst inserting knitting needles batters you over head with handbag.

Cat 1 - (the dogs bits) total closure system - talks constantly about the good old days renders offender completely comatosed whilst Police arrive!

On a more serious note...

is there such a thing on here?

I use a handbrake lock and a form of immobiliser , without hood and doors not much else you can do , cant use club on wheel as it would still turn!

Had no problems in 7 months parking in town etc. other than on way back from Newark on Father's day some low life scrote took my wheel brace out of back while we visited cemetary.

Its too loud and RED to drive off without being noticed , I can leave it outside the house and not worry about it , it gets garaged at night so guess I am lucky in that respect.

Just spoke to a garage who say they will fit the pager to my alarm and have a microwave bubble alarm when the roof in on and doors, this basically create's a vitual bubble in the car and when any scrots enter the bubble is broken and Dave is woken up by the sound and commences down the stairs with anger in mind and only boxer shorts in toe.

Ive got Argos' cheapo just 2 wires to the battery - detects motion and volts drop.

Set it too sensetive and a seagull farting will set it off - Harley Davidson's on open pipes trip it for a pasttime but it is effective to a point and protects against real problems - I hope.

Hi, my mate has one of the argos ones in his car and I thought about applying one to my geep (scarily close to on the road now!). Considering there are no internal lights coming on when the soft doors open, short of it being started up there would be nothing I can think of to lower the voltage and trip the alarm.

I like the idea of the "microwave bubble alarm" mentioned above...does anyone know a different name for that system as nothing comes up apart from currys web site when I search for it!

Hope you're all well,

Yes its a pager alarm, well its infact an add on for any alarm, i bought mine from ebay for £20 plus postage and it basically fits to your cars and if any scrots attack it the pager rings u to let u know.

Bob, how about fitting a light under the bonnet wired through an interior light door switch - then if the scrotes undo the bonnet to hot wire the Geep or to disable the alarm - it will trip.

My thinking goes like this - no car thief worth his salt will nick a kit car. The enemy is kids and drunken louts both of whome are detered by the simplest of devices. Don't forget vibration trips the Argos jobby - I do not want a silent pager to summon me - I want the alarm to scare them off so they will annoy someone else. Real anti theft try a handbrake lock and if you want to go that far a fuel cut off valve - or an electric fuel pump with a dash switch to control it.
