Christmas trees - 50% off for NHS.....hmmm

Local place is offering the above and put it on Facebook.

There are now scores of posts asking:
1) What do I have to do to prove I'm NHS?
2) Does it apply to...(think of anything related to 'key workers' and it's been asked).
3) How many trees can I get the discount on?

FFS. It's £30 for every tree. £15 for NHS, so a very generous offer. Bet they're wishing they hadn't done it now.

Clearly people asking aren't really NHS - anyone who is has an NHS badge with their picture on it. But they're prepared to lie to a little local company whose trees, even at full price, are pretty reasonable.

I hate this, any admin bh that’s awful at their job or some fat cat middle manager or similar then gets loads of discounts of can jump the que even though they are sitting at home doing their job the same as everyone else

I agree, consultants are always expected to pay full price. It's so unfair!

I have organised a community Xmas tree this year, it's very therapeutic and in these difficult times, it is a simple way to involve all, including the local school kids, in the display.

Maybe try it rather than get angry?

I drove past some self-important throbber with a FIRST RESPONDER sticker in his window. I’m obviously lacking in knowledge here but it seems that the people with the big blue lights on their car are the emergency services and only those who win the race to the scene would be consider first responders in my book.

Some people are very happy to flaunt any tenuous angle and shove it in your face to get an edge in a car park (or double yellows).

I blame the Americans and their fawning over their forces and services (post-9/11).

Larry David had it right when addressing that particular issue.

This is where you are mistaken! The whole idea of First Responders is that they will get to a medical incident before an ambulance or paramedic to administer initial First Aid or to use a defibrillator or similar. Certainly round here the First Responder is almost guaranteed to be first as the target for ambulance arrival is rarely met.
