OK I know we've covered this subject before!

But just having a bit of a headache on my 2015 Vanquish service on having an amazing indy around the corner who uses genuine AM parts and I've used for little bits and pieces or going back to Main Dealer for possibly a worse service but keeping the dealer SH in the book.

I know the indy (who is well know and advertises in Vantage magazine etc.) will do a better job but is the reputation of the MD still such a big issue for cars over 5 years old?

For me this actually isn't so much about cost but about the car getting looked after properly. It's still under timeless warranty and I'm aware this is not an issue if recognised Indy uses genuine parts etc.

Welcome thoughts - cheers.

Indy... I’m all for supporting local business but with the Indy you’re (probably) not paying for a massive showroom, huge stock, superfluous staff, and free tea and coffee for anyone who looks through the window. That said I don’t have a local Indy so use you know who in Cambridge..

Sorry, not much help frown

Having had experience of three main dealers I would be more likely to buy (and possibly even pay more for) a car that had been looked after by my favoured Indy than the main dealer network. They do more for less and have so much more knowledge/experience that it's an easy decision for me.

If my car was in the UK it would be going to BR. BR has done a video on this very topic if you're interested.

The Indy network for AM is really good in the UK. I use them when convenient. Dealers will tell you full main dealer service is important come resale, then you take your 10 year old car in for a trade in and get book price regardless of a few indy stamps in the book.

Most important is to keep invoices and book stamped with everything thats been done on a regular basis.

I'd have no issue buying a Vanquish (or any other AM for that matter) with a recognised indy service record from the likes of BR, Bridge Mill, Nicholas Mee etc. They seem to go into more detail than the main dealers and are much more pragmatic.

I'd go with a good indy and wouldn't have an issue buying a car that had been looked after by a good indy, so I say go for it

I'm just coming up to my first annual service early in the new year with my car (car is 2017). Hence I will need to decide whether to continue with the extended warranty also. What are the pros and cons, ie is it likely to be cheaper to use an indy than continue with the extended warranty - what if I needed work doing than ran into multiple thousands that was covered by the warranty but would have to pay the 'full wack' with the indy.
Also, as I want to take the car into Europe, if I don't have extended AM warranty, do I still have AM assistance to cover European breakdowns ?

Cheers.

Am pretty sure warranty work can be carried out by a reputable indy as long as they use genuine AM parts.

Yep - much appreciated for this and for all the other responses! Indy its is.

Mike at BR is naturally a little biased but I believe his comments that actually you'll get a better service and attention to your car at a reputable indy than at MD. My indy experience to date has been excellent whilst a previous V8VS at a MD was pretty shocking and ££££. All depends on your experience obvs but mine has been 50:50 at MD whilst great at Indy.
