Evening all.

We're a bit behind the times and just getting into Alexa in our house. We've got a Fire TV cube (which is what started it after our fire stick died), an Echo Dot and as of today a Show 5. We've combined them with a Smart bulb outside the front door, one in the hall lamp and RGB lights on the landing. The main routines we've had running are to turn the front door, hall lamp and landing lights on 100% at sunset for 'Weocome Home' then at 8pm (Night Chill) the hall lamp and landing dims to a softer light, then at 11 (Sleep Time) the hall goes off while the landing turns into a dim red night light, and come sunrise (Good Morning) the landing and front door light turns off. So far it's been working faultlessly and I'm really impressed with the system so far. The only thing that dawned (pardon the pun) on me tonight, was that come summer, the Night Chill routine will come on even though it's not dark yet, and then at ~9pm the lights will all suddenly burst in to full brightness when sunset comes. Is there a way to tell it to only turn on at sunset IF it's before a certain time and similarly with the Night Chill, not to run if it's not sunset yet? I've tried googling, but as you can probably tell by my ramblings above, I didn't really know how to put it in a short sentence!

Cheers

As far as I know conditions in routines isn’t possible just using Alexa routines.

It is possible using a home automation server like HomeAssistant but you’d need a PC running 24/7 with the software (free) on it.

Thank you. I'll have to just deactivate the routine when sunset passes 8pm. Bit of luck it's something theyll add in the future.

I had a similar issue with my mother in law's setup. The switch for her stair light is difficult for her to reach, so I set the stair light to turn on at sunset and off at 9pm, by which point she has gone upstairs for the night.

In the summer when sunset was after 9pm the light was turning on and staying on all night.

I couldn't find a solution other than to disable the routine when sunset was after 9pm.

Alexa does have a sunset and sunrise routine. The time will then change throughout the year. We use it for the outside lights.

Eta, sorry just reread and not what you need.
