Got a larini,how will Hurricane sound?

Hi all

I have an '53 plate 111S. Put the Larini back box on it about 3 weeks ago - sounds excellent and is just the sort of raspy, different noise that I was after. Very impressed indeed!

I still have the standard airbox and, like I say, really like the sound at the moment. Was wondering, though, what putting the hurricane inductino kit on my car would do to the sound?

I've done a search and read through some of the posts from you guys (SWorks, Bogie etc) and it seems that it will give quite a deep noise. To be honest, it's not deep I was after, more 'complimenting' to the Larini's raspiness!

What's your thoughts, people? Should I just leave it like it is?!?

they compliment the exhaust nicely

Hey there, I've got a Janspeed and a Hurricane and I can tell you the hurricane sounds fantastic. The main differrence is that you'll get a nice throaty roar from the engine when you open the throttle not just some noise from the exhaust based on the revs of your engine. Makes all the difference. At town speeds (low throttle) it makes no difference to the noise at all, very respectable, but as soon as you open that throttle valve...

Best ever mod you can do to your Elise! Sports Box with Hurricane. Mine sounds sweet especially with the roof off. If you’re really sad you can get your friend to rev your car while you put your hand up against the air vent and feel the air get sucked in



Be wear when u fit it you will be making more regular visits to the petrol station due to the fact you can't help but hooon it to hear the ROOOOAAAARRRR!!!

haha, that's exactly what happened now i've got my Larini - I must look like such a plank the way I drive, but I do it purely to sound good!

At £160 for the hurricane (is EliseParts the bestplace to get it?) I think I may wait till next pay day (two weeks), but, ok ok - you may have just persuaded me

I have both on my '03 111S, sounds fantastic. The hurricane doesn't really kick in with the growl unless you put your foor down so in traffic and around town its not really audible. Which is good imo.

I find it growls, rather than booms.

DPR - do you lose any of the 'raspiness' that the Larini produces?

No I don't think so. My Janspeed is like that, not too loud around town but at higher revs is really nice and raspy. The Hurricane adds the nice induction growl that complements the raspiness of the exhaust nicely.

Suffice to say that when I put my foot down people usually get out of the way!
