My dear wife has a Nissan Leaf, which she loves. Usually she charges it at home, but recently she tried to do so at a supermarket, only to discover that the charging cable doesn't work. It doesn't work at home either. The cable was bought about 5 years ago, and I don't think we've tried to use it before.

New ones seem expensive. Does anyone know of anyone who can repair the cable? Ideally not too far from west London/Herts/Bucks.

Is it a type 2 to 2 or a type 2 to 1 cable?

If you can find a local electrician who installs EV chargers he should be able to test the cable for you. You might even be able to do it yourself if you have a multimeter.

TBH, by the time you find someone who may or may not be able to fix it it'll be easier and potentially in the long run just to buy another.

My Leaf granny lead has failed a couple of times, both times the input wires break inside the unit from flexing. I never charge with anything else so it gets a lot of use typically twice a day.

I repaired it my self though I am an electronics engineer and have access to suitable workshop facilities.

I tried to find wiring schematics or pin connections for each cable on line but didn't have much luck. Are they simple passive cables?

Thank you for all your comments. It is type 2 to type 2.

I did look inside the ends, but couldn't see anything loose. I don't think this is a DIY job, I'm a mechanical engineer not electrical.

I'll enquire with charging box installers to see if they can do anything.
